Stem Cell Therapy for Dogs
Honey’s Story
My beautiful dog, a Golden Retriever called Miss Honey, began limping badly, it seemed overnight but her full days of charging about, always eager for the next adventure were catching up on her. A couple of years earlier, x-rays showed bone splinters in all her paws, legs, practically everywhere. She still had good days and we began to swim her more and more. I watched her like a hawk.
Honey was my companion all day long, nearly every day, so I noticed changes quickly, her limping became more profound, not wanting to walk far and her general discomfort became evident, I knew I had to do something.
She started on a monthly dose of librella, several pain relief medications rolled into one. This helped mask the problem with pain relief, but it didn’t deal with her severe arthritis issue. There were other medications I could have put her on, but they all had severe side effects, so I began researching for something else that could help her in a more holistic way and so my journey with stem cell therapy began.
Petcare owner and veterinary surgeon Stewart Halperin BVMS MRCVS met Honey, thoroughly examined her, talked extensively to us, answering the never-ending questions we bombarded him with and explained in detail what stem cell therapy could offer Miss Honey and her aliments.
In a nutshell it is a progressive, all natural and new procedure that provides an option other than pain medication, joint supplements and therapeutic diets. Stem cells are the body’s repair cells. They can divide and differentiate into many different types of cells, based on where they are needed throughout the body. They can be used as treatment for joint injuries, ligaments and tendon damage and fractured bones. Research and clinical trials currently support the use of stem cells in these conditions.
Honey was hopefully going to get a new lease of life.
She was one of the worst cases he had seen regarding the severity of her arthritis, she was riddled with it. The day of her operation came, the staff were first class, simply amazing, their standard of care exceptional. We took her home to recover. We were told it would take 3 months to kick in and it did. Simply put she would not be here enjoying her life without it. She still sometimes hobbles slightly but she isn’t experiencing any pain. The joy on her face has returned. Honey is 12 now and can be seen, walking, sometimes trotting on a good day, swimming and enjoying her advanced years. It truly is a miracle!
I cannot express my gratitude to Stewart Halperin and his team enough and can highly recommend this treatment.
